While the 4th of July weekend was too wet for Fireworks Celebrations, but it was perfect for a mud bogging. Rain that was heavy at times was just too much to risk getting the expensive explosives wet.
The weekend saw the first organized event held by SloPoke Bogging at a track on Fish Road near Eastman. As I watched traffic go by Fifth & Ogden, just about every other vehicle for several days seemed to be hauling ATVs of some type. Finally I could stand it no longer and went to visit the Bogging.
There were vendors with all sorts of food and drink available, RVs set everywhere, a huge stage for performances, and a side by side mud pit track for racing. I found a marked ATV trail that I quickly discovered was too much to be explored by my jacked up Golf Cart.
Organizers of the event touted the positive economic impact on Eastman as every motel room was reported to be sold out. I also understand that an even larger event is being planned for September, Trucks Gone Wild.
Everyone present appeared to be having a great time in a town with very little to do in the form of entertainment.
Deputies of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department were on hand for the event utilizing ATVs, RVs. and the Police Departments Mobil Command Post. To my knowledge, there were no problems encountered and the event went smoothly.
Here is a look at the event thru the camera lens!
